Four years after debuting in 2015, 1017 Alyx 9SM formally known as Alyx Studio premiered the inaugural runway presentation in Paris for Spring/Summer 2019. Before we speak about the key looks, some details worth noting are the add-ons to the renaming. Known to be inspired by the designer’s California youth and subcultures, Matthew M Williams has once again injected a sense of nostalgia into the brand by reflecting his birthday – October 17th and the location of his first studio where he started his decade of experience as a creative director in the art, music and fashion industries, 9 St. Marks Place, New York City.
Since it’s debut, the brand has already garnered a global cult following including recognisable fashion crowds such as Asap Rocky, Bella Hadid, Kanye West, Kendall Jenner, Luka Sabbat, Skepta and much more. Presenting both the Men’s and Women’s collection in this runway and showcasing the brand’s DNA, some key pieces from this collection are the denim workwear, patent skinny bottoms and the iconic chest-rig bags.
