ROBOTIC LABORATORY: THE WERKSTATT:MÜNCHEN PROJECT

Werkstatt:Munchen’s workmanship, understanding of body anatomy and nuanced details of the long established hand-hammering blacksmithing techniques have always been key elements in the label’s creation of jewellery pieces.  As we anticipate the future of production where automation processes take place, we explore an experimental laboratory series featuring the latest Autumn/Winter 2020 collection, in a setting where robots replace traditional craftsmen, following fixed trajectories for extra precision in the production of these intricate pieces.

The pieces, upon closer observation, reveals a deeper understanding of Werkstatt:Munchen’s design process. Each 5 combination ring though not welded together, is designed to be worn according to a specific order to provide individual dynamics of the composition, guaranteeing the perfect fit. Each embossed hallmark on its bracelet portraying a certain denotation, with the stamp of the crown, the moon and the ‘925’ sterling silver symbol.

Beyond the dazzling silver facade of these pieces lie a deeper significance; by balancing meaning, beauty and function, the label seeks an emotional connection with its wearer as an extension of oneself.
