Women’s Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter’ 18 Recap

First off the agenda, we paid a visit to a close associate of ours— Uma Wang, who was agreeable to grant us backstage access to her Fall/Winter 2018 showcase and allowing us to capture some rare moments of her runway show preparation.

Following Uma Wang’s impressive presentation on the runway, we headed down to the showroom to take a closer look at the Fall/Winter ’18 collection that she has constructed for this season. The assemblage focuses on Uma’s signature tailored loungewear looks fashioned from chunky knits, luxurious velvets and embroidered fabrics. Hidden among the range of classic footwear designs, we also spotted some new additions that are bound to turn heads!

Set among the most charming architectural view in Paris, Matthew M Williams housed his showroom for Alyx Studios Fall/Winter ‘18 collection within the upper levels of a restored building. Vibrant colours are predominant in the upcoming collection with distinctive utilitarian elements reimagined in softer hues of pink and silver.

In a quaint neighbourhood on Paris’ Right Bank, we found ourselves greeted by a welcome mat of loose white pebbles at Marc Le Bihan’s showroom. Stepping in, the interior is decorated with a mix of natural and industrial materials, finished with polished steel display cases. Bihan’s love for textile and handwork is evident in the swatches of his trademark hand treated fabrics for the upcoming collection.

To end off the hectic day, we headed down to Isabel Benenato’s showroom to make our selections for next fall’s collection. Drawing inspiration from the juxtaposition of light and darkness in the solar system, the collection incorporates wool blend compositions of varying earth tones to give prominence to the planetary hues.

Berlin-based Ottolinger was a definite showstopper at this Paris Fashion Week when he sent statement pieces featuring destroyed fabrics paired with melting bags down the runway. Tucked away in an unsuspecting corner, Ottolinger’s showroom displays key looks from the brand’s upcoming Fall/Winter ’18 collection that is bound to stir the hearts of trendsetters looking to stand apart from the mainstream fashion.

The newest addition to our company — Matthew Adams Dolan housed his showroom in a luxurious setting decorated with tasteful French paintings where he arrayed his collection for Fall/Winter ‘18. Dolan’s denim was pivotal in his transition from student to a designer but he has steered off his path a little with this Fall collection focusing on plaids and businesswomen silhouettes.

Matthew Adams Dolan’s collection of specialty denim and alternative daily wearables will be available in stores this Fall.

Next up, we stopped over to check in on our close friend — Shanshan Ruan at her Paris atelier. Her new collection for the season includes the application of her signature hand-painting technique on delicate fabrics such as organza and features more sophisticated looks. Definitely one of Shanshan Ruan’s most outstanding works to date!

Setting foot in Guidi’s charming showroom, we were instantly greeted by the familiar scent of leather. The space, reminiscent of a countryside cottage, is furnished with rustic wooden fittings and skylight windows; ornamented with an abundance of green foliage. The Tuscan shoemakers presented their Fall collection with a series of signature silhouettes laid out on galvanised racks and illuminated with industrial lighting. Up on the mezzanine floor, our eyes are met with an exquisite display of footwear crafted using traditional tanning processes.

As part of our continuous efforts to showcase the most remarkable labels in the fashion industry, visiting Greg Lauren’s showroom was definitely at the top of our list this Paris Fashion Week.

Nephew to the iconic Ralph LaurenGreg Lauren’s interplay between perfection and imperfection and his undying passion for deconstruction could not be further from Ralph’s clean-cut aesthetics. Greg is definite proof that sometimes the apple does fall far from the tree.

Greg Lauren’s collection will be available in stores at L’armoire this Fall.
