A Brief History On Greg Lauren
Artists, nomads, soldiers. These inspirations are what painter-turned-designer Greg Lauren draw from to give his clothing a raw, androgynous, and deconstructed feel. Debuting in 2011, Greg Lauren’s ready-to-wear collections for men and women are made almost entirely by hand in his Los Angeles studio. For this Spring/Summer 2019 collection Lauren explores themes and stories stemming from his personal childhood. Experimental in construction and design, the collection’s pieces are equal parts art and apparel.

Greg Lauren has long proven masterful at marrying different stylistic genres, while applying his avant-garde tooling techniques en route to creating unique garment interpretations. This Spring/Summer 2019 collection explores the themes of ‘Preppy, Amagansett and Greg Lauren classics’ and childhood stories as his main inspiration.

Drawing from his childhood memories wandering the beaches of Amagansett in his faded chambray shirt and a pair of orange Birdwell trunks, Greg Lauren collaborates with heritage Californian surf brand Birdwell, creating functional hybrids that take elements from fragmented Birdwell swimsuits and materials.

Noticing an increase in interest in the preppy style and a whole new generation who wants to understand it, Lauren took the iconic preppy pieces (Crested blazers & Rugby polos) that he wore as a child and elevates them into fresh new silhouettes with his signature distressing details

DENIM PREP ZIP PANTS
Lauren’s clothing is purposefully pieced together and expertly tailored. Garments frequently mix high and low — vintage military fabrics and fleeces, repurposed overalls and a mix of indigo plaids. His collections conjure up images of the romanticised nomad and the post-apocalyptic journeyman.
