Delada Spring/Summer 2019 Pre-Collection

The Russian label DELADA has released their pre-collection for Spring Summer 2019 titled –– “RePURPOSED and ReBORN”, which takes inspiration from Russia’s rich history as well as the current political and cultural sentiments.

This collection focuses on the ‘Peredvizhniki Art Movement’ that happened during the 19th century when a group of fourteen elite art students made the decision to leave the prestigious Imperial Academy of Arts in Moscow forming an artist’ collective protesting the academic restriction of the art being reserved solely for the aristocracy. Further known as “The Peredvizhniki” or “The Wanderers” movement by the collective of fourteen students is an effort in making art unrestricted and accessible to the general population. Through their liberal ideas and new art techniques, the collective then gave birth to a brand new genre, rebelling against traditionalism and it is this very movement that inspired DELADA’s latest collection.

Taking apart the concept of traditional tailoring and fusing it with streetwear, the collection involves traditional tailoring techniques with an addition to modern fashion elements. The collection is meant to appeal towards the younger generation as an effort in changing the present conservative culture and fashion ideas of Russia. In other words, the collection “RePURPOSES” traditional styles and fashion techniques and allows classic themes and styles to be “ReBORN” for a new generation of forward-thinkers.
