AFTERHOMEWORK SPRING/SUMMER 2019 COLLECTION

A Brief History on Afterhomework

French designer Pierre Kaczmarek founded his label – Afterhomework when he was still attending high school in 2014. The brand started out simply as hobby with Kaczmarek designing a few t-shirts for his friends after he was done with his school, hence the namesake ‘Afterhomework’. Two years later his girlfriend Elena Mottola, whom is also a stylist joined him and they’ve further refined and solidified their unique take of haute couture-meets-athleisure aesthetic, carving out a distinct space for themselves in the Paris fashion landscape and the industry.

Despite their young age, the power couple Pierre and Elena (Now age 19 & 20 respectively) has presented their label – Afterhomework in Paris Fashion Week and in just a few seasons, the couple has even grown to be some of the most watched designers today by being the youngest designers to be nominated ever for the prestigious 2018 ANDAM prize and is now part of the official schedule of Paris Fashion Week.

Inspired by their daily life, friends, urban environments and French rap music. The Afterhomework duo has an alternative creating process and way of building a collection of reworking classical garments into futuristic and couture outfits while maintaining a streetwear aspect.

” A male can put on a skirt or pants and the same can be said for women”

The duo’s design process is not bounded by the social norms of sexuality or gender, Pierre does not sketch his designs with a gender in mind but only with the artfulness of his creation. A male can put on a skirt or pants and the same can be said for women, in the young designer’s mind it’s all the same.

Even though the brand has grown their collections with more expertly tailored cut-and-sew garments, graphic t-shirts and streetwear-informed styles of its early days continues to remain an integral part of the brand.
